are you ready for lalaland?

I had never seen Bryan so ready to be in bed before. Tonight was indeed special.

I was desperate to get the children to nap this afternoon when we came home from school. My plan was for them to nap at 3pm, and get them to be up by 4.45pm, so that we could make it on time for my acupuncture session at 5.30pm. Yep, I was gonna bring both kids to the clinic and leave them in the treatment room, while I got pricked all over! Crazy, right? By the way, the therapist called to cancel the appointment as soon as the kids were in their bedroom because she had to attend to an emergency call in the hospital.

Anyhow, in my desperation, I told the kids to quickly fall asleep so I said, "Let's get to Lalaland as quickly as possible." Bryan thought that was funny. And he did fall asleep quickly, even though Kristin did not nap at all and was crying the whole time. Partly because she already had a power nap between 2.30pm and 3 pm in the bus.

So tonight, Bryan was rattling on and on, on what possible things one might do, see, experience in Lalaland. Of course, we need to put on our pj's first, drink our milk, brush our teeth and most importantly, use the potty! While Lalaland has everything possible in it, there's one thing Lalaland does not have - a toilet! Anyway, Bryan was all ready to take a tour in the outer space and make his encounter with the extra-terrestrials tonight. Kristin on the other hand really thought we were going to take off to somewhere at this late hour. Then Bryan and I had to explain to her that Lalaland wasn't a place that one could get to by using the usual mode of transport, e.g. car, train, ship, plane. It's a place where one only gains entrance by sleep! So what are we waiting for? We wished each other great adventures for the night!

Really, Lalaland is something more for a 4 year-old than a 2 year-old. Kristin's still not buying it! Or is she missing her dad again? Alan's out at dinner with his colleagues tonight. Gee, next week's gonna be worse. The kids won't see their daddy for the whole week!

I'm really hoping that Bryan will stick to swallowing this new sleep pill of Lalaland! In that way, at least one kid goes to bed with eager!
