3-4 hours away from Frankfurt, we have a choice of fanciful destinations:
e.g. Brussels, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, Colmar, Mullhouse, Lichtenstein, and of course, many cities in Germany and many places in Switzerland.
5 hours will get us to Paris, Berlin or Prague.
Oh... I'm already missing the long road trips.

3 hours you can get to my hometown Malacca! 4 hours can go to KL! Mai hiam lah....
I know! Ok, this is nothing against M'sia, in fact my family used to spend every single weekend in M'sia, esp when my mom hails from M'sia and many of our relatives still live there...
But just M'sia only...?
Ok lah... mai hiam liao... better than nothing indeed, e.g. staying put in Sg all the time!
Not so bad what. +2hrs to Bali. +1hrs to Phuket. +3hrs HK. Lilian, can you do your SQ plug again here??
Maybe it will help if you think of all the states as different countries? hahaha!! You can drive to Johor (beautiful Tioman), Pahang (Club Med, National Park), Terengganu (see turtles, Redang), Kelantan (check out the wau/kites, lots of culture here, good durians too), Malacca (be reminded of your dear friend and hey World Heritage Site donch pray2), Negeri Sembilan (good charsiew shou), Selangor (happening KL, great food, near to Genting, Batu Caves), Perak (white coffee, horfan, Pangkor Laut), Penang (Pearl of the Orient, Georgetown: World Heritage Site), Kedah (Langkawi), Perlis (er...dunno about Perlis, but if you've driven this far, well, you're just a hop away from Tantalising Thailand, might as well drive on!).
There's a whole world right up north for you to discover, just pretend you just came from an angmoh country.
We used to go to M'sia a lot too, but somehow lost our taste for it (sorry Lilian! nothing against M'sians!!) Somehow the resorts are always run down, the service tends to suck and might be my imagination but in certain places, the people seem to be less friendly than before. Would so love to be able to take road trips to various parts of Europe! *envy*
And 45mins to reach Indonesia. How about that?
Ad: No duit lah to jet around like Lilian. Road trip... Ever wondered why the German Autobahn has no speed limit, no need to pay toll, yet the road condition is perfect? So that poor people like us can travel, modestly in a car.
Actually, love to travel in a car... just dump everything into the trunk and we are all packed! ;) Travelling with kids = Moving house! Or I just can't pack light.
